Before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs Regarding 2006
VVA demanded that Congress call for a
review of the penalties for military sexual trauma, seek to re-authorize
the biennial report of the Advisory Committee on Women Veterans,
provide funds for study into the long-term health effects of dioxin,
sufficiently fund the Homeless Veterans Assistance Act of 2000,
and appropriate additional funds to conduct POW/MIA searches, declassify
relevant documents, and to pass a resolution urging the government
of Vietnam to further cooperate regarding this issue.
VVA called for the Pentagon to perform a full medical examination, to include drawing blood and psychosocial history, for all troops prior to and upon their return from deployment overseas.
