Wounded Iraq War Veterans to Attend Vietnam Veterans of America’s “Broadway to Baghdad” Event in New York City

(Washington, D.C. ) – Seven wounded veterans receiving treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington will be honored guests at “Broadway to Baghdad,” a star-studded special event sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America on Tuesday, October 17, in New York City. The trip to New York for the five U.S. Marines and two Navy Corpsmen, five of whom lost limbs in the Middle East, is being sponsored by the Seneca Gaming Corporation, a major sponsor of the “Broadway to Baghdad” event.

The veterans will take part in a series of tours and events arranged by the New York City Police and Fire Departments and then will attend the USO-type gala show from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the HBO Theater as well as the special 8 o’clock performance of  “The Times They Are A-Changin’, ” the new Twyla Tharp musical, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

“Vietnam Veterans of America’s motto is ‘Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another,’” said VVA President John Rowan. “We are proud and humbled to welcome these young American heroes to New York and to this event, one of many VVA efforts to honor the newest generation of American veterans and to reach out to them to help them adjust to life back home.”

Special sponsorship packages, including opportunities to help active-duty service members attend the events, are available. To find out more, contact Pat Gualtieri at 877-727-2333 or go to www.vva.org
