VVA LAUNCHES VOTE FOR AMERICA! CAMPAIGN
IN California

(Washington, D.C.) – "Too many Americans take our freedoms for granted," said Thomas H. Corey, Vietnam Veterans of America national President. "In this election year, with so much at stake, we want to remind our fellow citizens that they that we really do have an obligation to fulfill."

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) has launched its 2004 Vote for America! Campaign in California. The dual purpose of this initiative is to remind us that the freedoms we enjoy have been paid for by the blood and sweat of generations of American veterans; and that Americans can fulfill an obligation to those who have served – and those who are serving now
by voting in caucuses, primaries, and general elections.

A 30-second public service announcement, http://www.vva.org/media1/gotv-California.mp3, has been distributed to scores of radio stations in California. The simple yet distinct message, "Americans serve in the military to defend our Constitution and to preserve the values we hold dear: like voting for those who will lead us," challenges the people to discharge their obligation as citizens.

"Today, with a new generation of Americans in harm's way fighting the war on terrorism, each of us has an obligation to honor the service of all who served: by voting,” said Corey. “Vietnam Veterans of America
VVA urges you to participate in the primaries here in California and vote for the candidate of your choice."

We would hope that the public service announcement we've produced will receive significant air time in California.
