Alan Cook of Castro
Valley, California, was elected National Treasurer of Vietnam Veterans of
America (VVA) at the organization's Eleventh National Convention in St.
Louis. Cook served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and has been a veterans'
advocate for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience in the
nonprofit financial sector, and in corporate financial accounting.
Cook began his work at VVA as his local chapter's Treasurer and became the
Treasurer of the VVA California State Council, a position he held for ten
years. He also served as Treasurer for VVA's charitable arm, the Vietnam
Veterans Assistance Fund, for three years. Has been a member of VVA's
national Finance Committee since 1991, having chaired that panel for the
last four years.
Three other national officers also were
elected. They are: Thomas H. Corey, President; Edward Chow, Vice President;
and Jim Grissom, Secretary.
In addition, there were 19
National Board of Directors elected: Ten At-Large and nine regional. The ten
At-Large are J. Randy Barnes, Lee Fisher, Marsha Four, Jerold Klein, Steve
Mason, Dave McMichael, Bill Meeks, Jr., Charlie Richardson, John Rowan, and
Sandie Wilson. The nine regional directors are: Region 1, Larry Goucher;
Region 2, Fred Elliott; Region 3, Bruce Whitaker; Region 4, John Koprowski;
Region 5, Lupe Alviar, Jr.; Region 6, Steven House; Region 7, Allen J.
Manuel; Region 8, Donald McDole; and Region 9, Darrol Brown.
