Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) convene quarterly meetings at the Double Tree Hotel, 300 Army Navy Drive, Crystal City, Virginia, 27-29 April, 2000.  In addition to regularly scheduled working sessions, VVA members plan several events to honor the end of the war in Vietnam and withdrawal from Saigon 25 years ago.

Under guidance from the Parks Department, the members will meet at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall at 6 – 8 a.m., 29 April, 2000, to wash the memorial panels.  Members involved in the cleanup will include Ronnie and Diane French, parents of Heather Renee French, Miss America.

VVA will sponsor a commemorative 25th Anniversary Service at the National City Christian Church (non-denominational), 5 Thomas Circle, NW, Washington, DC, at 5:30 p.m., 29 April, 2000.  The hour-long service will include music, a special reading of letters and poetry. The keynote address will be given by Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

Members will proceed after the ceremony to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for quiet reflection.  All events are open and the public is encouraged to attend

VVA’s point of contact for additional information is Scott D. Campbell at (202) 628-2700 ext. 158.
