IMMEDIATE RELEASE                              August 15, 1999                    (202) 628-2700 Ext. 158

George C. Duggins was elected national president of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Saturday evening, August 14, at the organization's Ninth National Convention in Anaheim, California.  Also winning elections to VVA's national Executive Board were Thomas H. Corey as vice president; Jim Bouley as treasurer; and Agnes Feak as Secretary.

The 636 delegates at the biennial convention also completed work on a series of resolutions that, for the next two years, will set the agenda of VVA, the nation's only congressionally chartered veterans service organization working for Vietnam veterans and their families.  The convention-adopted resolutions covered many issues, including Agent Orange, veterans benefits, health care, employment, the POW/MIA issue, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder treatment.

The delegates also chose the fourteen members of Vietnam Veterans of America's national Board of Directors, along with the directors for each of the organization's nine regions.
