VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA TO MAINTAIN OFFICES IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AREA
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) National President George C. Duggins
announced VVA's intentions of maintaining their offices in the Washington,
Based upon a vote by the VVA's board of directors at their quarterly
conference on Jan. 23, 1999, the majority of the attendees determined that
costs in moving the offices would not produce appreciable savings.
Furthermore, by moving part of the office staff out of the Washington,
D.C. area, effectiveness of the functions performed by staff members would
be undermined. A determining factor was difficulties experienced
by other veterans service organizations when similar moves were made.
On-going evaluations will be made to determine when the national offices
will be moved to a new location since the existing rented spaces are not
acceptable. Currently, VVA intends to relocate in the National Capital
Area based upon future decisions by its board of directors. More
information will be made available in the VVA Veteran as to the advantages
and disadvantages of relocation.
