Vietnam Veterans of America Vermont State Council President John Miner
extends heartfelt appreciation to Senator James M. Jeffords for his dynamic
efforts in garnering senatorial recognition for the Vietnam Veterans of
America during their twentieth year commemoration.
Senator Jeffords was instrumental in the passage of Senate Resolution
207 during the second session of the 105th Congress. Supporting his resolution
were Senators Specter, Akaka and Leahy. Recognition of the efforts
by Vietnam Veterans, not only in Vermont, but across the nation, "is deeply
appreciated by the entire membership," Miner said.
Vietnam Veterans of America National President George C. Duggins joined
Vermont State President Miner in gratitude. "Receiving recognition
in Washington and throughout the nation indeed underscores the achievements
of our membership built over the last 20 years, especially from the state
where our first chapter was founded. We are thankful for the tributes
extended to our organization by the Senate through this wonderful commemorative
resolution," Duggins said.
Vietnam Veterans of America is the nation's only congressionally
chartered veterans service organization dedicated solely to the needs of
Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA's founding principle is
"Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another."
