VVA Press Release

Washington, D.C. (June 4, 1996) -- Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., launched a new website last week aimed at the nation's nearly 8 million Vietnam-era veterans.

The website, created by InterVisage, Inc., with VVA's guidance, "has the potential to reach millions of people," says Karen Sowman, VVA systems administrator. "We would also like to widen our exposure by linking our site with other veterans groups and appropriate governmental web sites," she says.

The new site, accessible at http://www.vva.org, offers a wealth of information and resources provided by VVA, including a comprehensive calendar of upcoming events, a Veterans Collectibles cybershop, legislative news, publications, and information on joining and getting involved with the organization. In addition, the site features an on-line feedback area that allows users to comment on the site, ask questions or present concerns, and receive timely, on-line responses from VVA. Carl Stout, VVA executive director, says, "At this stage, we are looking to see what information people feel is important so that we can expand areas, or reduce areas not considered important."

Although InterVisage has developed dozens of nationally known websites, Frank Klassen, company president, says he is particularly excited about the VVA site. "It has been great working with VVA," says Klassen, "because the web site is totally dedicated to serving a group of individuals who otherwise have been largely neglected. The VVA web site will help these people both understand and access the services this nation has promised them."

Vietnam Veterans of America is the nation's only Congressionally chartered veterans service organization dedicated solely to the needs of Vietnam-era veterans and their families.
